

I never make editorial comment, I use no names, criticize no one - not a player, nor a coach - and not even the often dumped on ref. I do, however, reserve the right to wish that my young friends had won. I continue to support them; plan to follow them in club play, during the swim season and look forward to next year's final.

I was worried when I moved here that I would find friendly young people to work with. I should not have given it a single thought. These guys are great and I hope I'm still around to work with their kids. They tell me that the schools in Florida are problematic - well, the kids are super fine!

Elijahquest is a site dedicated to my personal vision of photography expressed through sports and travel - with the occasional excursion to a photo essay if something intrigues me.
Elijah is my beloved Boston Terrier and the "quest" when the site began was to find occupation and intellectual stimulation in retirement from corporate america; I'm sadly reminded of my own father sitting firmly on the coach with nothing to do. I plan to be very busy, as busy as a crowded high school sport schedule will allow.
Why high school? Well, I taught and coached years ago before leaving for a corporation and it's incentives and; where else would an amateur sports photographer go? Both major and minor professional teams are money making propositions and the field is crowded. I want to spend my time " paying it forward" giving back to our youth without charge. All I ever ask is the right to be on the sidelines - try that at even a college game!
Yes, I give the photos away . There are many ways to contribute to a community and to society. Many ways to volunteer - I hope that my sports site gives people something that they can cherish. - with digital and the web I have no incremental costs.
Sport is not only about about winning and losing, it is about emotions, dedication, anticipation, even disappointment. I take candid portraits along with the action. This is called Environmental Portraiture and takes a connection with the athletes to accomplish. Patience and time are essential - I think I’m good at it and it sets my style. I find that parents cherish the "hanging around, portraits, warming up shots more than anything else... the child is more visible and provides a memory to cherish. I always tell a new group - just wait until next year - now that they know and trust me - it only gets better.
